Tenugui
(Pronounced Ten-uh-gooey) Also called Hachimaki. Used in
Kendo, it is a head cloth wrapped round the head before donning
the Men (helmet). It absorbs the sweat, and helps prevent it
running into the eyes, provides an extra padding and protection
for the head, and helps prevent chafing and discomfort.
Often decorated with Kanji (Japanese Characters) and club names,
personalised Tenugui can also be obtained. Usually £5 or
slightly more.
