Kote
Padded gloves worn to protect the hands, they are manufactured from stiched cotton, padding and leather, with himo lacing
on the inside of the wrists or sometimes a stretchband. Since the Kote is a target in Kendo, it is important that they are of
good quality to afford protection, and they should fit well so that a correct grip can be made on the shinai.
Some Kendoka buy Kote seperately from the rest of their armour in order to get higher quality and/or to have a spare pair,
since the sweat from the hands and arms, and wear and tear means they do not last as long as some other items.
