Bokuto
Wooden sword shaped like a real Katana, also known as a
bokken. Used in Kendo no Kata (Kendo sword forms), Kenjutsu, and
by the opponent in Jodo. They are made from hardwoods such as oak
and some are treated with a varnish finish.
The picture shows a Bokuto without its Tsuba (sword guard) which
is usually plastic held on by a rubber ring. A Kodachi (short
sword) Bokuto is also used. Bokuto vary in price from about
£10 to £35.
